There is one group in this country that most definitely believe that new restrictions on gun ownership are liable to be instituted in the wake of the Newtown massacre. There is one group that is almost certain that everyone in this country to the left of, say, Wayne LaPierre is out to get them and their guns. Who is this prescient group who are, very likely, right?
I have got skills in a lot of things. I am a good cook; I can dance Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing and Blues; I can sing and play a few instruments; I am a decent Blues DJ… but the coolest of all of my skills is that I am pretty darn good with a handgun. I know things about handling a gun and shooting that most people never learn, and I owe it all to Ignatius Piazza’s gun training at Front Sight resources Institute.
I am very happy with my overall experience and would gladly build another before I paid extra to get one off the shelf. The build process is fairly easy and kind of fun plus I like the idea of knowing that I was ar15 responsible for how each piece of the gun was installed.
Remember, ALL politics are local. Even your Congressional representatives and your two senators are beholding to us, the fickin’ voter! Wanna make sure they get the message to leave our guns and ammo alone? Call the SOB’s. Send personal letters, not just those form letters we can “sign” on the Net. Believe me, when faced with their personal desires or those of their parties, versus the very real threat of NOT BEING RE-ELECTED, these folks will, almost to a man or woman, vote the way the vast majority of their constituents tell them too. Our power in the voting booth is the only power they respect, and almost every one of ‘em would rather win re-election than vote the way their party tells ‘em to when we make our wishes known.
What makes 4H unique is that although they do compete, the entire atmosphere is about learning. Regardless of the activity, whether rabbits, chickens, competitive shooting, horticulture or bugs, everyone is sharing information to make everyone the best at their particular activity. Once a member learns something in their project area, they are encouraged to share that information with younger and newer members. This teaches them excellent communication, and leadership skills.
My octogenarian father, has what I call ‘mental wonder-lust.’ At first glance it appears he has the same problem I have. In examining his proclivity for jumping from hobby to hobby his whole life, you’d think he never found his passion either. Dad is different though. In fact, never letting his mind settle down for too long on any one topic is in itself, his passion. He is passionate about always changing his interest. His pleasure is derived from changing his mental pursuits. He no sooner grasps a working knowledge of say, fractal geometry, before he is off to something like the structural integrity of bamboo. His passion is change. Change is an odd passion. Most people hate change. I hate change and can’t change that.
